Casting a Vision for Community Life at FMC
Mark 3:13, 14; Matthew 28:16-20
In Matthew’s report of Jesus’ last interaction with the remaining 11 disciples, he commissioned them to make disciples.
Here at FMC we have the task of making disciples for the Lord. It is a call not only for missionaries, pastors, or Bible teachers. We, each of us, have been called to make disciples. In Greek, the verb “go” is not in the imperative mood to indicate Jesus was giving a command to “go” and make disciples. The verb is a participle aorist passive—“as you go.” That means the task of making disciples is ongoing and comprehensive—always and in everything and in every way possible, we should be making disciples. So the question for us to consider today is: How can we carry out the task of making disciples here at FMC? How can we make sure that everything we do or can do would encourage, facilitate, and provide opportunities to shape our members in the ways of Jesus?
